GUESS Embraces Environmental Transparency by Disclosing Through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Thrilled to announce that GUESS has achieved the leadership level with an A- score for its environmental transparency and actions on climate change in its 2023 CDP assessment.

This marks GUESS sixth consecutive year disclosing our climate impact through CDP, a global non-profit that runs the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform.

CDP evaluates companies on climate disclosure, awareness, and the management of environmental impacts, aiming to reduce them in line with the 1.5-degree trajectory laid out in the Paris Agreement. GUESS demonstrates environmental leadership by disclosing actions on climate change, such as setting science-based targets and creating a climate transition plan.

This achievement reflects GUESS’ commitment to sustainability and transparency in managing its environmental impacts, aligning with the goals outlined in the ACTION GUESS strategy.

GUESS increases its Fashion Transparency Index score

July 18, 2023

The eighth edition of the Fashion Transparency Index ranks 250 of the world’s largest fashion brands and retailers based on their public disclosure of human rights and environmental policies, practices, and impacts, across their operations and supply chains.

In the last 3 editions, GUESS is proud to have steadily increased its score in the Fashion Transparency Index moving into a higher score category each year: from 11-20% in 2021, to 21-30% in 2022 and lastly to 31-40% in 2023.

Thanks to its commitment to transparency, in this Fashion Transparency Index last edition, GUESS performed above average which is 26% for the world’s largest fashion brands.

GUESS Partners with I:CO to Launch Wardrobe Recycling Program

Business Wire (June 18, 2018):  GUESS is proud to partner with I:CO®, short for I:Collect, a global solutions provider and innovator for the collection, certified sorting, reuse and recycling of used apparel and footwear, to launch a wardrobe recycling program. The program, RESOURCED, launches in California on June 18, 2018, expanding to all North America by the end of 2018 and globally by 2020.

GUESS has partnered with I:CO to reduce textile waste and help create a circular fashion system where unwanted clothing and shoes can be reprocessed and used over and over again in a continuous closed loop production cycle. GUESS Installs Clean Water Tower for Puerto Rico Community

April 6, 2018: In partnership with Planet Water Foundation, GUESS funded an AquaTower system to provide clean water to 250 students at a primary school in Juncos, Puerto Rico.  The AquaTower now provides the students, staff, their families and community with a reliable, high-quality water source, which has the capacity to clean and store enough water for 1,000 people per day.

GUESS Joins Retailers Committing to Fabrics that Protect Forests, Locals

Reuters (February 27, 2018):  Fashion retailer Guess?, Inc. is adopting a policy to trace the sources of its wood-based fabrics, joining an array of fashion companies aiming to rid their supply chains of products from endangered forests, the company and activists said.

The new Guess policy seeks to trace the origins of its viscose, rayon and modal fibers in a bid to battle deforestation and protect the rights of people living in at-risk forests, Chief Executive Victor Herrero said in a statement.

Guess-Sponsored FIDM Class on Sustainability & Fashion

As part of our  continued commitment to education and our local community,  GUESS has partnered with the Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising (FIDM) to offer a class on sustainability and fashion. The class covers the lifecycle of a garment from textile sourcing and tracing, green garment design and manufacturing to post-consumer care, and is open to select FIDM students and GUESS employees at no cost. This is a pilot project happening in Summer 2016.
